From the inception of North Front Sound, we have been privileged to have been led by excellent directors. In keeping with that grand tradition, North Front Sound is pleased to announce that Adam Scott has agreed to join us as director beginning June 6th.
Adam holds a M.M. in choral conducting from Oklahoma State University and a B.A. in music composition from Utah State University. He worked previously as music educator and editor of music publications for the Barbershop Harmony Society and currently serves as the VP of Music and Performance for the Rocky Mountain District of the BHS. He is certified with the BHS as a judge in the Music category and is a long-time faculty member of Harmony University.
Adam has written and/or arranged over five hundred pieces of music, including over a hundred barbershop arrangements for quartets and choruses. His classical music is sung by many High Schools and colleges in North America. He has collaborated with composers and arrangers including Dr. Kirby Shaw and Deke Sharon. He is published by MusicSpoke, Music House Publications, and his own private studio.

Celebrate National Barbershop Quartet Day – April 11
National Barbershop Quartet Day commemorates the birth of the organized barbershop movement on April 11, 1938, when 26 men gathered together at the invitation of Rupert Hall , the “Royal Keeper of the Minor Keys,” and O.C. Cash, “Third Assistant Temporary Vice Chairman” for a songfest. Subsequent gatherings snowballed, leading to the founding of the Society for the Preservation and Encouragement of Barber Shop Quartet Singing in America, now known as the Barbershop Harmony Society. Organizations for women sprang up soon after, and in the following decades, a worldwide network of harmony singing societies spanned generations and tens of thousands of singers. (barbershop.org)
How to celebrate you ask? Find a group and sing!
Studies show that singing with a group helps to relieve stress, improve immunity and respiratory health, and builds social confidence and self esteem. So become a barbershopper. It is good for you!
North Front Sound is proud to be participating in the 2017 District Convention for the Rocky Mountain District of the Barbershop Harmony Society. The convention will take place Oct 6-8 at the Zermatt Resort in Midway, Ut.
As a new chorus (and we are working to be the newest chapter in the society by the convention start) we will be the official mic testers for the chorus, receive feedback from the convention judges, and get our first real experience participating at a BHS event.
In addition to the mic testing, you will find many of us volunteering in various capacities or even wandering the halls looking for an impromptu quartet opportunity.
Please come participate in the convention. Additional information can be found on the Rocky Mountain District Website at https://rmdsing.org/district-convention-2017/
Sunday July 30th – 7:00 pm
Join us for a most excellent journey through time as we explore the origins of barbershop harmony.
This is a free concert for the whole family.
